I hold a number of beliefs that I don’t think are particularly popular and I try to write about them here pretty often. I do this both so that I can get discussions going and see where I actually disagree with people at large and to help me better understand my own beliefs and arguments.
Here are five of my beliefs that I suspect or know are unpopular, or at least not believed. Chances are that you disagree with at least one of them.
- Schooling does far more harm than good.
- Not only is fossil fuel technology the most efficient form of energy production available today, it is one that we ought to maximize if we want to increase human flourishing across the globe.
- Time is actually an incredibly abundant resource.
- Individuals — including young children — are the best judges of what they should learn, not instructors, administrators, or experts.
- There isn’t a venture capital bubble in tech right now.
If you disagree and would like to engage, I’d love to read some responses. Just go ahead and link back to this piece in your response and I’ll get a notification. What are some of your most unpopular beliefs?
